January: Lander County is home to 7 non-Hispanic white inmates

Lander County had seven non-Hispanic white individuals incarcerated in January, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.

This is an increase of 40% over the month before, when there were five non-Hispanic white individuals incarcerated.

Cristian Alejandro Gonzales, a 27-year-old Hispanic or Latino man, was the youngest inmate in Lander County in January.

Overall, local jails in the county had 10 people incarcerated as of January.

Every year, at least 38,000 people are booked into Nevada's local jails.

Nevada has an incarceration rate of 610 per 100,000 people, which means it incarcerates a higher percentage of its population than any other democracy in the world — except for the United States.
