Pershing County: 15 inmates were sentenced to jail in Q4 2022

In Pershing County, 15 inmates were sentenced to jail in the fourth quarter of 2022, a 34.8 percent decrease from the quarter before, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.

Jose Javier Figueroa, a 23-year-old, was the youngest inmate sentenced in Pershing County in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Evencio Gutierrez was the oldest at 71-years-old.

Every year, at least 38,000 people are booked into Nevada's local jails.

Nevada has an incarceration rate of 713 per 100,000 people, which means it incarcerates a higher percentage of its population than any other democracy in the world.
