Churchill County School District: How many students met or exceeded expectations in Science CRT in 2022-23 school year?

Of the 242 students who took part in the Science portion of their Criterion Referenced Test (CRT) in Churchill County School District, 11.2% met the testing standard while 5.4% exceeded expectations, according to the Nevada Accountability Portal.

At the time, the proficiency level in the district was 16.6%, 3.4% less than the state's average of 20%.

There were 3,342 students enrolled in the 2022-23 school year, 0.5% less than the year before.

Across the state, Nye County School District had the highest percentage growth in enrollment during the 2022-23 school year, increasing by 4.8% from 5,577 to 5,842 students. Meanwhile, Mineral County School District saw the smallest percentage growth, changing by 0.2%, increasing from 607 to 608 students.

Churchill County School District roughly covers schools within Churchill County and has a main office in Fallon.

Criterion-Referenced Tests (CRTs) are used to evaluate students' proficiency in core subjects like mathematics, English Language arts, and Science.

According to the Nation's Report Card data, there is a significant disparity in academic performance between minority students and their white peers in Nevada's schools. For example, in 2022, 8th-grade reading exams revealed that 46% of African American and 39% of Hispanic students failed, compared to 21% of white students. Similar trends were also seen in math and across different grade levels.
