8 inmates were incarcerated in Lander County in September

The number of inmates incarcerated in Lander County remained unchanged in September compared to the previous month, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.

In total, there were eight inmates in local jails at the time.

Cristian Alejandro Gonzales, a 26-year-old, was the youngest inmate incarcerated in Lander County in September.

William O. Gibbons was the oldest at 73-years-old.

Every year, at least 38,000 people are booked into Nevada's local jails.

Nevada has an incarceration rate of 610 per 100,000 people, which means it incarcerates a higher percentage of its population than any other democracy in the world — except for the United States.
