Lander County is home to 5 non-Hispanic white inmates in Q2

Lander County had five non-Hispanic white individuals incarcerated in the second quarter of 2024, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.

This is an increase of 25% over the quarter before, when there were four non-Hispanic white individuals incarcerated.

Cristian Alejandro Gonzales, a 26-year-old Hispanic or Latino man, was the youngest inmate in Lander County in the second quarter of 2024.

Overall, local jails in the county had nine people incarcerated as of the second quarter of 2024.

Every year, at least 38,000 people are booked into Nevada's local jails.

Nevada has an incarceration rate of 713 per 100,000 people, which means it incarcerates a higher percentage of its population than any other democracy in the world, according to 2020 U.S. Census data obtained by the Prison Policy Initiative.
