In Lander County, eight inmates were incarcerated in the second quarter of 2024, a 14.3% increase over the quarter before, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.

Cristian Alejandro Gonzales, a 26-year-old, was the youngest inmate sentenced in Lander County in the second quarter of 2024.

William O. Gibbons was the oldest at 72-years-old.

Every year, at least 38,000 people are booked into Nevada's local jails.

Nevada has an incarceration rate of 713 per 100,000 people, which means it incarcerates a higher percentage of its population than any other democracy in the world.
