47 inmates were incarcerated in White Pine County in May

In White Pine County, 47 inmates were incarcerated in May, a 2.2 percent increase over the month before, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.

Weston Taylor Sampson, a 21-year-old, was the youngest inmate incarcerated in White Pine County in May.

Donald L. Winn was the oldest at 74-years-old.

Every year, at least 38,000 people are booked into Nevada's local jails.

Nevada has an incarceration rate of 713 per 100,000 people, which means it incarcerates a higher percentage of its population than any other democracy in the world.
