City of West Wendover announces the City Employees who Receive Service Awards

City Employees Receive Service Awards

On Wednesday March 29, 2023, several West Wendover City Employees received their service awards.

Gordon Richardson, Landfill Operator.  Gordon received his 10-year service award.  He began working for the city in March of 2013 as a Landfill Operator under the Public Works/Compost Department, a position he continues in today.  

Heather Neilson, Police Lead Dispatcher.   Heather received her 20-year service award.  Heather began working for the city in July 2001 as a Police Dispatcher a position she held until 2007 when she took a hiatus from the city.   In 2009, she returned as a Police Dispatcher and then in 2015 took on the duties of Police Administrative Clerk.  In 2016 Heather was promoted to Police Lead Dispatcher, the position she holds today.

Debbie Smith, Community Development Administrative Assistant.  Debbie received her 25-year service award.  She was initially hired with the city in in March of 1998 as an Administration Receptionist.  In 2000, Debbie was transferred to the Community Development Department as an Administrative Assistant, the position she continues to hold today.

Chris Melville, City Manager.   Chris received his 25-year service award.  He began his career with the city in March of 1998 when he was hired as an Engineering Technician.  In 1999 Chris was appointed as the Director of the city’s newly formed Community Development Department and subsequently received an additional appointment as Assistant City Manager.  In 2002 Chris was appointed as the City Manager/Human Resource Director; roles which he continues in today.

In addition to their service plaques, the individuals also received a service pin designed with the City Seal.  The pin reflects the employee's years of service with a star for every five years they have served.  As well, each received a $25 Smith's Food Store Gift Card.

What a great group of long-term employees representing the City of West Wendover.  We thank you for your service to the community and striving each day to perform your best on behalf of our citizens and residents.  Thank you and congratulations!
