Lander County: Nine inmates were incarcerated in Q4 2022

In Lander County, nine inmates were incarcerated in the fourth quarter of 2022, a 12.5 percent increase over the quarter before, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.

Mitchell Byrne Remington, a 20-year-old, was the youngest inmate sentenced in Lander County in the fourth quarter of 2022.

William O. Gibbons was the oldest at 71-years-old.

Every year, at least 38,000 people are booked into Nevada's local jails.

Nevada has an incarceration rate of 713 per 100,000 people, which means it incarcerates a higher percentage of its population than any other democracy in the world.
