Augastina Fernandez, the new West Wendover Library Branch Assistant for the West Wendover Library.
In her own words: My name is Augastina Fernandez, and I am excited to be working with the West Wendover Community as the new West Wendover Library Branch Assistant! The library isn’t just a place for reading, it can be resourceful in many other ways, and I am happy to be a new resource for the community.
I am Native American and Hispanic, was born in Elko and raised in West Wendover for the majority of my childhood and teenage years. The last couple of years I have been working in Native communities in the Reno/Carson area as a tutor in elementary and high schools. I have also helped Native families apply for childcare subsidies. I just turned 26 and I moved back to West Wendover to be closer to my family. I am working towards my Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education Math.
I have always enjoyed reading but I am an average reader. That just means I have more books that I can recommend from my wish list than from my “read” list, and that’s okay. I listen to a lot of True Crime Podcasts and can recommend those as well.
I can’t wait to meet everyone who comes in and visits the library.
Welcome back home Augastina.
