At the Regular Council Meeting of August 16th, the Wendover Prevention Group presented their Youth Recognition Awards for West Wendover. The awards recognize local youth who have been found to go the extra mile or demonstrate resilience through adversity.
Olivia Reamer. Olivia was provided an award recognizing her Outstanding Academic Achievment and Service.
Lusio Gonzalez. Lusio was provided an award recognizing his Academic Success and Leadership Development.
Dulce Gonzalez. A special recognition was awarded to Dulce Gonzalez as Youth Advocate of the Year. Dulce was nominated by the Wendover Prevention Group for her exceptional contributions in the Wendover Prevention Youth Coalition wherein she has demonstrated many leadership qualities including: Planning, recruitment and inclusion. She’s was recognized as very deserving of the award.
The Wendover Prevention Group will be gathering nominations from Wendover residents on a quarterly basis, soliciting names of youth who were was observed going the extra mile or overcoming a significant challenge. It is the groups hope to shed light on what our youth can do whether or not they think we’re watching. Wendover has some incredible youth and this is an opportunity to let them know how important they are to our community.
