County of Churchill recently issued the following announcement.
Churchill County Social Services & Public Health and the Sheriff’s Office are hosting a 40-hour crisis intervention training course May 9 through 13 at the Buckland Room in the new Rafter 3C Arena at the Churchill County fairgrounds.
Crisis Intervention Teams are a pre-booking jail diversion program designed to improve the outcomes of first responder interactions with people with mental illnesses. The course equips first responders and community partners to interact with individuals experiencing a psychiatrics crisis by providing specialized training and creating a community collaboration.
The course runs Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 11 will be spent visiting local resources followed a trip to the prison in Carson City. Transportation and lunch will be provided on Wednesday.
