City of West Wendover recently issued the following announcement.
Join Historic Wendover Airfield and the Salt Lake Astronomical Society for a Star Party! Starting at sunset on April 30th, visitors can attend the Star Party at no charge and view various celestial bodies from the flightline.* There will also be materials and artifacts available to learn about the use of celestial navigation by aircrews in World War II.
For those wanting to make a day of the experience, we will be offering flight-line tours every 90 minutes from 1:30 until the star party begins. These tours ($10 for adults/$5 for youth (12-17)/ children (11 and under) free) take visitors into two WWII hangars, the historic fire station, Norden Bombsight storage building, and out to an atomic bomb loading pit.
The museum will also be open to Star Party guests after hours and can be explored up until the stargazing begins. Cost of museum admission is $5 for adults, $3 for youth (12-17) and veterans, and free for children (11 and under).
