County of Pershing recently issued the following announcement.
Uprise LLC intends to seek financial assistance from USDA, Rural Utilities Service (RUS) under the ReConnect Program to install fiber internet access for residents and businesses throughout the greater Lovelock region. The proposed project consists of trenching underground fiber along I-80 between exit 93 and exit 129, installing aerial fiber throughout Lovelock, and trenching along already existing Right of Ways throughout the greater Lovelock area. This will connect the residents of the greater Lovelock area, local businesses, local municipal governments, and social service agencies to high speed and affordable fiber internet.
If implemented, the proposed project will cross the areas identified as floodplains in the Upper and lower valley regions. Flooding is unlikely but is possible under unusual weather conditions. The chance of flooding in any year ranges from 1 to 5%.
In accordance with Executive Order 11988, Floodplain Management and USDA Departmental Regulation 9500-3, Land Use Policy, the purpose of this notice is to inform the public of this proposed conversion or effect and request comments concerning the proposal, alternative sites or actions that would avoid these impacts, and methods that could be used to minimize these impacts.
