City of West Wendover recently issued the following announcement.
Mrs. Donna Crick Hanson, the first Mayor of the City of West Wendover, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 24, 2021 after a recent diagnosis of liver cancer. She was 87 years old.
According to her son Craig Crick, Donna had very fond and proud memories of her time serving our community which began in 1983; at that time, she became a member of the West Wendover Advisory Council then under the jurisdiction of Elko County. With the incorporation of the City of West Wendover on July 1, 1991, Donna was then named Honorary Mayor of West Wendover and Citizen Extraordinaire the following day (July 2nd) for her outstanding public service and dedication to West Wendover, the 16th city to incorporate in the great State of Nevada.
Donna was actively involved in the growth and efforts of the community through the years, which were eventually realized with the City's incorporation where she dedicated her time and knowledge of Nevada to help the community through the incorporation process and on to a brighter future.
In July 2021, she and her husband Lloyd Hanson moved from Sacramento, California to an assisted living facility in Reno, Nevada to be closer to family.
Your personal efforts and advocacy for the City of West Wendover will always be remembered Mayor Crick. Thank you.
