Churchill County officials have warned residents about a scam involving fraudulent requests for additional permit fees. According to reports, citizens are being contacted and asked to pay extra charges for permits through the Public Works, Planning & Building Department.

“These requests are a SCAM and should be ignored/reported to law enforcement. Please know that the county will not ask for payment in any form other than cash, check or payment with a card at our local office (270 S. Maine Street, Suite A in Fallon) or through the same online portal on which the application was submitted,” stated Churchill County.

The county emphasized that applicants have been targeted by scammers who instruct them to email another address for wiring funds elsewhere. The county described this as “an attempt to separate you from your hard-earned money and is a complete scam. Don’t fall for it!”

Residents were also reminded that any official communication from Churchill County will only come from an email ending in “@churchillcountynv.gov.”

For further information or if there are concerns about suspicious communications, residents are encouraged to contact Public Works, Planning & Building at (775)423-7627 during normal business hours.
