White Pine County had 27 Hispanic or Latino individuals incarcerated in July, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.

This is the same amount as the month before.

Jeremy James Moreno, a 22-year-old Hispanic or Latino man and Racquel McQueen, a 22-year-old non-Hispanic white woman, were the youngest inmates in White Pine County in July.

Overall, local jails in the county had 86 people incarcerated as of July.

Every year, at least 38,000 people are booked into Nevada’s local jails.

Nevada has an incarceration rate of 610 per 100,000 people, which means it incarcerates a higher percentage of its population than any other democracy in the world — except for the United States.
